Dual strip flying :-)

Last weekend I had the change to accompany another club pilot and an instructor for some strip flying at D’Urville Island then to Port Gore.

I just observed at D’Urville Island [I’ve been in there a few times previously] and took the opportunity to get some photos, including of the two other visitors. At Pore Gore we swapped pilots and I got to do some flying, including the trip back to Wellington.

Anyway, here are some photos from to trip through the Marlborough Sounds towards D’Urville Island. A beautiful [actually, perfect] day!

Here are the pictures from D’Urville Island, starting with the initial approach in.

And a couple of other visitors.

First up is a Cessna 172D, ZK-BDL. This older aircraft has a 180hp engine in it. Nice! It is based at Paraparaumu Aerodrome.

Next up is a Cessna A150L, ZK-DPS. This is based at Masterton aerodome.

Last up is an initial picture of the top of the airstrip at Port Gore. Nice! I have some video, so I hope the next post will have some video of my takeoffs and landings [it might take a couple of days to organise].
